Elton John: The Last Tour With More Than 300 Concerts in Three Years
(Blogmensgo, gay blog February 1st, 2018) At the beginning of his last big world tour in September 2018, British singer and songwriter Elton John will be 71 years old, with a music career spanning more than five decades. The first of more than 300 concerts across five continents will take place in Allentown, PA (USA). The title of this huge tour across the world will be Farewell Yellow Brick Road – a reference to his first (and possibly best) album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (1973).
Here are a few words about the tour plans – by Sir Elton John himself:
Tickets for the first concerts in the USA will be on sale as of February 2, 2018.
As far as we currently know, the tour will begin in the US and Canada in September of 2018, and continue in Europe in May of 2019. The last concerts are to take place during Montreux Jazz Festival on June 29 and 30, 2019, with tickets on sale as late as in July 2018.
Elton John has confirmed that this will really be his last tour, quite in contrast to many other artists who announce and play farewell tours repeatedly.
The video below is the official launch video for the world tour (34 minutes):
After his farewell tour, Elton John does not want to perform any concerts or tours anymore - but he wants to continue composing and singing. After selling more than 350 million albums worldwide, he wants to focus on the three big passion of his life, beginning in 2021: The fight against HIV/AIDS (Elton John AIDS Foundation – cf. the article in the December 2017 edition of The Advocate, or on page 54 of the print edition), his husband David Furnish and the two children Zachary (7 years) and Elijah (5) who they received via a surrogate mother in California.

We currently do not know whether Sir Elton John is planning any concerts in homophobic countries such as Russia, Zimbabwe or Indonesia.
There is no doubt that Elton John will promote his foundation during each concert and possibly dedicate his book on HIV/AIDS to the foundation. Maybe he will even donate a part of the proceedings of the concert tour to it.
