French Gay Pride Season Starts in Le Mans
(Blogmensgo, gay blog of April 27, 2016) On May 14, 2016 at 15:00h, the French Gay Pride season will start in Le Mans, France. On the same weekend, the local gay and lesbian association will celebrate its 20th anniversary with the theme:
« Homo ou hétéro : tous égaux. Ces différences enrichissent le monde ! »
(“Gay or straight: All the same. Diversity enriches the world!”)
This date is not just a random date because it is three days before the international day against homophobia, and it is during the long Pentecost weekend (Pentecost Monday is a holiday in France).
The parade is going to be quite big and, due to the 20th anniversary of the association Homogène, it is likely to have a big audience.
The gay and lesbian cultural weekend will offer a very comprehensive program with a vast choice of events and culinary specialties.
Besides the city administration, local merchants lend their support to the CSD weekend. They have launched a competition for the nicest shop window in rainbow colors running from May 9 to 15.
Another big event will take place during the CSD summer in France: The European Football Championships held from June 10 to July 10, 2016. The heightened alert state in France has been extended until the end of the Championships.
As a result, Gay Pride in Paris – focusing on transsexual persons – will be a little later this year (on July 2nd, 2016).
Accordingly, the Lyon Gay Pride was moved to July 9, 2016. Its theme this year will be artificial insemination for lesbian couples and administrative regulations for transsexuals.
The organizers of Lyon gay pride have come up with a particularly funny and provoking poster:
Homophobic celebrities on the run...
The poster shows four homophobic French celebrities in front of the gay pride participants: Cardinal Barbarin, involved in the pedophilia scandal of the Catholic Church, the two right-wing politicians Laurent Wauquiez and Christine Boutin, and the wacky and homophobic comedian Frigide Barjot.
We hope that the weather will soon become nicer and warmer – and we wish you all a great Gay Pride season!
