In & Out Festival 2015
(Blogmensgo, gay blog of 25 April 2015) The association of Nice ‘Les Ouvreurs’ have organized from April 30 to May 9, 2015, the 7th edition of the Rencontres In & Out in Nice and Cannes on the French Riviera. And this year, for the first time, the gay and lesbian film festival organizes an official competition.
The meetings of In & Out 2015 will give the generic theme of coming out. Coming out to the movies, of course, but also how the LGBT film came out of it's own closet to take it's place in the world of film in general.
The programming in 2015 places particular emphasis on films from Canada (through short films including from Quebec), Italy and Eastern Europe. A total of 33 feature films (including four docufictions) and 27 short films will share the bill with many films premiere.
Besides the short film, Canada and the Canadian short film In & Out will also feature a piece on the work of Rémi Lange - one of the many guests expected on site.
The list of contenders for the best short film includes all of the 27 short films programmed, while eight of 19 films will vie for the best feature film and half of the 10 docu’s for best documentary. A Jury Prize and Audience Award will complete the charts in 2015.
The selection of winners is entrusted to an eclectic jury. There is a filmmaker (Emilie Jouvet), a specialist in homosexuality (Didier Roth-Bettoni), a journalist (Xavier Héraud, cofounder of Yagg) and a local personality (Dana Osi, Vice President of Côte LGBT Center Azur).
Evenings, performances and special events will allow festival-goers, in Nice as in Cannes, to meet before and after the screenings. The event includes a day (May 7) for HIV. The opportunity to recall that it will cover you after the screening if you do not come home alone that night.
