The world says goodbye to Donna Summer

(BlogMensGo, 22 May 2012) May 17, 2012, saw the death of the queen of disco.

Donna Summer, died in morning at her home in Florida after a long battle with lung cancer.

She began her career in the mid 70s and immediately imposed herself with a string of hits (Love To Love You Baby, Could It Be Magic, I Feel Love, Hot Stuff, among others), that gave her the title "queen of disco", coming to sell in the course of her career over one hundred million records.

Much beloved by the gay community since the beginning in the mid-80s remaining embroiled in a dispute concerning a statement where she said that AIDS was God's punishment for immoral behavior of homosexuals. Despite the official denial and the many interviews released in subsequent years to major U.S. gay magazines, the dispute continued.

In later years especially with her greatest hits, she occasionally returned to the studio - her last album, Crayons, in 2008 - but it did not produce a best seller.

Many may have noticed how her career was closely linked to the gay community, which has determined her success first and then defeat, and her death supervening in her international day dedicated to the fight against homophobia.
