(Blogmensgo, October 4, 2011) The Serbian Ministry of Interior has banned gay pride at the request of the mayor of Belgrade, citing security concerns.

The organizers of the Gay Pride Serbia denounced a decision only three days prior to the event, a decision they deem unfavorable to the “development of a pluralistic democracy in the country.” They have not ruled out a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg and are already preparing the Gay Pride in 2012.

“What was at stake was whether the institutions were able to ensure the rule of law in the country. They failed to do so yesterday” said Kacin, European Parliament rapporteur for Serbia.

A Gay Pride was held in Belgrade last year, but it had indirectly caused serious incidents by homophobic thugs and Gay Pride had already been canceled in 2009 for security reasons.

Comment. Serbia wants to join the European Union. But does Europe’s mission to welcome among its members states which are not even capable of ensuring the security of a procession of hundreds or thousands of demonstrators? The answer is in the question.

(BlogMensGo, 02 October 2011) We are now back from Manchester Pride and Sitges Bear week! Far from rested…..This Pride being the 6th in Manchester I have attended.  Having come out in London and in the past regularly going back for visits, I have never been able to comprehend how Manchester can turn pride into such a massive event spanning a week with a penultimate weekend of well known artists, entertainment, socialising and most importantly fund raising, an event that leaves London not even attempting to try and keep up. (BlogMensGo, 25 August 2011) Tomorrow, BlogMensGo are flying into Manchester, UK for Manchester Pride’s 21st Birthday event! For me, this is my 6th Manchester Pride and my 5th within the parade, although this time not as a marcher, but as a reporter for MensGo.  I will be there with my MensGo attire snapping lots of pics for you all to see! On Sunday I will be interviewing Jackie Crozier the organizer of Manchester Pride, which may well be an interesting interview as she has recently announced she is stepping down as organizer to move onto other projects.

We land at 530pm, and have a mad rush to get to the Press event being held in the gay village! Then its out to hit the streets in the action packed weekend which spans Friday to Monday (Monday being a bank holiday in the UK) finishing off on Monday night with a Candlelit vigil in Sackville Gardens followed by fireworks.  Then we fly back on Tuesday :-(

After a couple of days of settling back into life at home in Switzerland, we are off again on our travels for the Sitges Bear week…so will follow the pics of burly/rugby built/hairy men!

Whether you are in Lausanne partying at 43&10, in Manchester for Pride….or elsewhere in the world! I hope you have a fantastic weekend and able to make the most of the sun before we lose it to winter!
