(Blogmensgo, gay blog of June 6, 2017) Berlin is getting ready for its CSD (Gay Pride) on Saturday, July 22, 2017: With many cooperation projects and a CD featuring more than 40 songs.
In German-speaking countries, Gay Pride is usually referred to as CSD, short for Christopher Street Day, and in commemoration of the riots of 1969 that had their origins in the Stonewall Inn of Manhattan’s Christopher Street.
This is the parade path, beginning at Kurfürstendamm and ending at the Brandenburg Gate.
As opposed to most other Gay Pride parades, there will be two subsequent parades in Berlin: The first for all groups without vehicles and sound amplifiers, and the second one for all parade floats and sound engines of at least 400 Watts. Interested groups may still reserve a float until July 3, 2017.
This year, two initiatives take care of the right sound: Firstly, the song “Beautiful Ones” by the pop duo Hurts, which has become the official anthem of all CSDs in Germany this year, beginning in Berlin. Secondly, a music CD with many songs, featuring the song by Hurts as well.
This official CD is called House of Pride and was produced in cooperation with Sony Music Entertainment. Some of its sales proceeds will go to the 5 largest CSDs in Germany: Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart. There used to be separate anthems for each city but the organizers have joined their forces this year.
Here is the official video clip to “Beautiful Ones” by Hurts:
The album will be available for purchase on CD or download from Sony Music beginning on June 23, 2017. House of Pride features 42 songs that are popular in the LGBT community, have strong beats and are great for dancing.
Besides the hit by Hurts, there are also songs by Lady Gaga, Sia (who had published a great song and video clip in honor of the Orlando victims), Coldplay, Nicky Minaj, Maître Gims, Gossip, Jennifer Lopez, Sean Paul, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, Conchita Wurst, Mika and many others.
For each album downloaded or sold, 1 euro will got to a German LGTBQI group still to be defined.
