(Blogmensgo, June 27, 2012) For the thirty-fourth edition, the Gay Pride in Berlin was attended by between half a million and 700,000 people around a procession just as festive, colorful and thundering as in previous years. Some 62 organizations and 46 tanks paraded in the capital’s Kreuzberg district to the Brandenburg Gate, with a climax to a busy LGBT week.

Several distinguished speakers have graced the event with their speeches, starting with Klaus Wowereit. The mayor of Berlin, assumed gay, recalled that in Germany too, discrimination against gays and lesbians still exists to varying degrees but it is tangible.

We hope that these are not American tourists ©gaywave.it

(BlogMensGo.it, June 23, 2012) The American-led Frommer’s invites gay tourists to avoid Sicily, for his homophobia and its medieval attitudes.

One of the most popular American tourist guides, Frommer’s, with 8 million copies sold each year in the section devoted to Sicily, defines it as “one of the bastions of homophobia in Europe. Some of the islanders manifest antigay attitudes that would be more appropriate to the Middle Ages. “And again: “If you really want to go, the better scelata Taormina, but if you want a gay holiday in Southern Italy, Sicily is not for you. Better than the island of Capri. ”

Even better, Northern Italy, where homosexuality is more tolerated and there are many sites Arcigay.

Now, who will explain to Americans that the Arcigay, not only has numerous locations in Sicily, but actually was born in 1980 in Palermo? And who will explain that for years Catania is considered one of the meccas of gay tourism in Italy? Or that since 2010 is held on the island Sicily Queer Filmfest, one of the most important film festivals dedicated to LGBT issues? And, again, who warns them that this year will be held in Sicily, not one, but two Pride, June 22 at Catania and Palermo on June 23?

(Blogmensgo, June 22, 2012) The Pride Jura will be held this year on 30 June and 1 July 2012 in Delémont in the Jura. We are talking about here in the Swiss canton of Jura, not the French department namesake. The event is in partnership with MensGo.

The municipality of Delémont’s slogan is “A city that laughs.” Oh, the cow! one is tempted to say. And it’s true that there will be a cow programming for the Pride of Jura Delémont.

(The generic theme of Pride and Exchange 2012 will change. Like what you love with all the puns in Delémont on this blog.)

The parade itself is announced for the Saturday, more precisely from 1500hrs, just after a session of speeches that are more or less institutional. Then there will be a bit much for the ears and the eyes – and the funny bone, otherwise it would not be a Pride.

And just after, 1600hrs to 2230hrs, there will be a bit much for the eyes and the ears. It’s time for concerts. Except that, for once will not hurt, there will be none for fans of house, techno and rap.

Jazz will be honored with our Swiss jazz singer Steven Gallavin, whom has featured a few times on this blog. In July 2011, we featured a very detailed section on Steven and his career. In January 2012, we also published an article by about the cover of Nina Simone by Steven which of course…I made my cameo role in.  Unfortunately, my talent as an actor has not yet been picked up so I am still here writing for MensGo (not that I would give it up but may be required to by my agents).

Catherine d’Oex is the only name that, among six other artists scheduled, reminds me of something very specific. It is true that Catherine d’Oex is known for his involvement in the fight against HIV / AIDS. Something in common with Steven, who led the association VoGay from 2004 to 2010. It is not clear whether the two Vaudois artists to make a beef Delémont.

(The cow … beef – Boom Boom.)

No way for Steven to sit back on stage. © Gallavin.com.

Not to be jealous, these are the names of five other artists scheduled for The Brats, Schwubs, Ishmael Schneider, Charlotte Sometimes and King’s Queer.

The concerts will be followed by a disco night and an after party. Just have a look at the program.

And like any self-respecting Pride, cultural events are sure. It starts already with several exhibitions, it will continue Friday, June 29 with a screening of the inevitable Harvey Milk (there can be no cow milk) and it will end on Sunday July 1, with such an apotheosis of events that I’m too lazy to list.
