(BlogMensGo 30 July 2011) Jerusalem held it’s gay pride this year on July 28th.  In the past it has attracted violence and in preparation for this, 1,000 police officers were on the streets to buffer any trouble.

The parade was held on a Thursday, the eve of the two year commemoration day of the shooting at Bar Noar.

Some disruption was said to be caused by an ultra-orthodox Jew who was arrested for throwing bags of ‘foul smelling liquid’ at gay marchers, three years ago an ultra-orthodox Jew stabbed and injured three marchers at pride and last year eighteen people were arrested for trying to set off a makeshift bomb during the parade, such a shame that it is again religion to be the cause of the disruption – these people representing an apparently loving god.

There was also reported to be a small number of anti-gay protestors holding placards condemning homosexuality, one reportedly said ‘Gays, they are waiting for you in hell’, some protesters tried to bring their donkeys to show their view of gay sex being a ‘beastly act’ AFP Reported.  Ultra-Orthodox Jews consider the event to be an abomination and desecration of the holy city.

Police estimated the number of marchers this year was close to 3,000 and openly gay MP Nitzan Horowitz spoke at the March, saying it was ‘a symbol of the struggle for freedom in Jerusalem.

It was decided not to have platforms at the pride event, but rather to encourage the marchers to create their own stage or performance within the parade using their own messages, creativity and style.  A facebook group was set up with the heading ‘Intertwining paths: The 2011 Jerusalem March for Pride and Tolerance’ and was run in conjunction with the Jerusalem Open House.

Despite the trouble, it seems there was a lot less trouble this year, not really much more than what goes on at other prides around the world.  Lets hope it continues and improves in the coming years for Jerusalem.

Everything is oversized - ©gay-party.ch

Blogmensgo, July 30, 2011) BlogMensGo and its parent MensGo.com are officially partners in the Jungle Mousse Party to be held this year on July 31, from 10pm to 5am at the Mad Club, Lausanne, Switzerland (the city from where this blog is being written/Translated from).

It is predicted to be an even hotter party in Lausanne this July 31st as it is just before a national holiday. Yes! Switzerland celebrates its birthday on 32 July of each year ;-)

To find out more about the musical and festive night, click here to visit the site of ‘Mousse 2011’. It lists the DJ’s playing on the night including DJ Antoine909 from London and DJ Elias from Ibiza.

The foam-party, called Jungle Mousse, can also be attended by guys who do not like water or foam and are not afraid to the pay full price to be deprived of the pleasure of washing with industrial foam. As for the location…it is the street from Geneva to Lausanne, not the reverse.

And this is a paragraph superfluous, to avoid duplicate content, a gigantious offense, which would ensure your favorite blog loses points in the ranking of the best blogs.

Organizers urge revelers to bring old shoes, sexy shorts, swimsuits and towels and don’t wear metal or cheap jewelry as you are likely to turn green in skin color and shame. Philca also recommends bringing earplugs to protect the ears (these are sometimes given out at venues here a lot but I can not confirm if this will be an event where they are), for the fact that the program contains the word DJ four times is certainly not innocent. Please do not attend in the nude! ;-)

Better to book in advance, even if only to pay 5 francs less than 30 francs (4.3 euros less than 25.9 euros) charged to those who buy their tickets on site.

For those in attendance, I hope you have an amazing time! I am still waiting to hear what we are doing on the night, so you may either see me in some sort of ‘Mensgo attire’ preferably black as it’s thinning! If you do, please say hello! If not, I will be in the crowd somewhere trying to look inconspicuous!

Freedom - to marry - I cherish your name ©DR

(Blogmensgo, July 30th, 2011) The five district councils in New York have exceptionally opened Sunday, July 24, 2011 from 0830 to 1630 and have conducted 659 weddings, including number of marriages between gays and lesbians. That Sunday, in fact, marked the entry into force of the law “marriage equality” throughout the State of New York. The exact proportion of marriages between same sex is not formally specified at the time of writing this.

Never before has the City of New York celebrated so many weddings in one day. The previous record, was 621 marriages on Valentine’s Day of 2003.

2,661 couples had shown interest in marrying on July 24th so it was decided that a lottery draw would be held to give everybody a fair chance (See our Article of July 20th).  Out of the 2,661, only 823 couples actually registered for the lottery so Mayor Bloomberg decided to push the limit up and marry all of the couples that had registered.  On the actual day, only 659 couples actually showed up (see below).

Among the 659 married couples, 22 U.S. states – or 23 states if we include Washington, DC – were represented, 511 couples had at least one spouse living in New York City and 484 couples were married by judges who volunteered to officiate on this very special day.

Wedding halls remain open all week from 830am to 630pm, the municipal team felt that the tide rise is probably not complete. On Sunday, July 31, 2011 the records should also be marked with a huge collective wedding ceremony planned in Central Park. The statistics will therefore change significantly in the coming eight days.

Niagara Falls, it's kitsch. But not in winter (it is frozen) or summer (too hot) or late October (too foggy). © DR.

The first same-sex marriages were not celebrated in the city of New York, but in other localities of the State of New York. Thus at midnight (or midnight), Sunday, July 24, after eleven years, Kitty Lambert, 54, and Cheryl Rudd, 53, were married in the city of Niagara Falls with the falls specially illuminated in the colors of the rainbow sky.

Comment. Why only 659 marriages? Allow Philca to venture four hypotheses.

First, some homosexual or heterosexual couples have the wrong hall, confusing Brooklyn and Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens. Second, some homosexual or heterosexual couples have misunderstood the schedule and arrived after the close of business. Third, some homosexual or heterosexual couples have finally decided to postpone marriage to avoid the rush. Fourth, some heterosexual couples have decided not to marry in the vicinity of gays and lesbians.

New York and Niagara Falls. Two blessed places of tourism that should not delay or break countless couples of gays and lesbians wishing to marry. Tourism professionals are already rubbing their hands in glee.

Useful detail: the illumination of Niagara Falls is not specific to gay marriage, as evidenced by the above photo taken there over twenty-five years. I recommend that brides and grooms to go in mid-September, that is to say, after the hot summer and before the mists of the late autumn.

I may also suggest, in the same State, three places with names very evocative: Lake Placid, Syracuse and Rome. Yes! gay marriage is legal in Rome …
